PARLIAMENTARY ACTIVITIES
Elected MP (ND) for the Dodecanese in the general elections of 1981, 1985, 1989 (June and November), 1990, 1993 and 2000. Member of the Standing Committees on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, and of the Greek delegation to the NATO Assembly (Committee on Defence and Security). Alternate member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (Committee on Culture and Education). Secretary General of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.), June 2008.
SOCIAL – POLITICAL ACTIVITIES
Minister for Merchant Shipping, July to September 1989 and June 1990 to December 1992; Deputy Minister for Finance, April to June 1990. Responsible for ND section on Foreign Affairs and party officer for Greek-Turkish, Cypriot, and Middle-Eastern issues and issues pertaining to allied and international activities. ND Party officer responsible for the entire island and naval policies, for energy, natural resources, regional disparities, regional developmental problems and the tourist market.
